🌺 Welcome

Welcome to the 5 Graceful Spins pack.

In this series, you’ll learn five graceful spins, broken down clearly so you can understand how each one works, practice them with confidence and learn how to make them graceful.

Take your time with each lesson and revisit them as often as you need. In the final lesson, we’ll bring these spins together into a graceful combo.

My teaching approach is straightforward:
First, learn the movement.
Then, make it strong.
Finally, we add layers of grace to finesse the spins.

If you’d like a warm-up before you begin, you can use this one:

If you’d like feedback along the way, you’re welcome to film yourself and send your videos to hello@spinwithsophia.com.

Spin 1

Carmen

🌺 Lesson 1 – Carmen

We start with the Carmen spin.

It’s helpful to already be familiar with your Figurehead or Hood Ornament spin, as Carmen builds from similar positioning, but I’ll cover the major points you need for this within the lesson.

Carmen is a beautiful spin that adds such elegance to your movement. Once you understand the mechanics, it becomes a lovely option to include in combos.

Spin 2

Side Embrace

🌺 Lesson 2 – Side Embrace

This lesson introduces elbow grip if you haven’t worked with it before, and we’ll take time to place the body so the spin feels supported and controlled.

The entry into Side Embrace has a beautiful, flowing quality, making it a lovely spin to use when you want your movement to feel continuous and smooth. It works especially well in combos where you want to transition seamlessly from one shape into the next.

Spin 3

JuJuba Doll

🌺 Lesson 3 – JuJuba Doll

One of my personal favourites.

In this lesson, I share a few tips to help you create a truly seamless entry into the spin. These details make a big difference to how the movement feels and how it looks.

JuJuba Doll creates a presence – once you know how to place yourself onto the pole for solid grip points, you can then use your arms, back extension and gaze direction to evolve your shape as you spin.

Spin 4

Vomitron

🌺 Lesson 4 – Vomitron

Vomitron is a gorgeous shape on the pole. In this lesson, we’ll cover how to place your cup grip, along with both forwards and backwards entries into the spin.

A solid pole sit is needed for this one. Once you understand the setup, Vomitron becomes a beautiful option to add into graceful combos.

Spin 5

Vortex

🌺 Lesson 5 – Vortex

This spin uses elbow grip again, but a more challenging version, and in this lesson we go through how to place the grip properly to protect your shoulders. We’ll take time to break this down so you understand exactly where and how the grip should be working.

Vortex has a beautiful elegance to the shape, and once the grip and placement is clear, it becomes a lovely spin to include in flowing combinations.

Put It All Together

Your Graceful Combo

🌺 Lesson 6 – Combo

This final lesson brings all five spins together into one flowing combo.

Think of this as a short dance rather than something you’re meant to master immediately. It’s designed to help build strength, stamina, and endurance, as well as give you time on the pole linking multiple spins together.

This combo is something to return to again and again over time. Each run-through will feel different, and that’s the point. The goal is progress, not perfection.

I recommend filming yourself the first time you try it, then revisiting it regularly if you can, and definitely filming it again toward the end so you can clearly see how far your strength, confidence and grace have developed.
